Rapist Sentenced For Essex Attack

Aaron Miller's been jailed for 4 and a half years after pleading guilty to raping a woman earlier this year.

The 25 year old from Delhi Road, Basildon, was sentenced at Basildon Crown Court on Thursday, November 18 and has also been put on the sex offenders register for life.

It's after a 46-year-old woman was attacked on London Road in March.

The court heard how Miller had been riding along on his bicycle when he saw the woman alone and took the opportunity to attack her, forcing her down a narrow driveway leading to a garage area.

DI Martin Pasmore of Harlow major investigation team said: "This was a frightening attack on a defenceless woman going about her business.

"Our thoughts are with her and her family and I wish her all the best for the future."

Reviewing lawyer for the CPS Lynn Harvey said: “We are pleased this case had reached a successful conclusion for the sake of the victim who we hope can now put this terrifying ordeal behind her.

"The only saving grace is that she didn’t have to relive the horrible events of that night in the courtroom. We want to thank her for coming forward and assisting the prosecution.

"The CPS remains committed to prosecuting this type of offence through the court system and bringing offenders to justice.”
