A road in Southend has been cordoned off after a man was found with serious head injuries there.

Emergency services were called to Tylers Avenue at around 1.30am today (Friday, 19 February).

Essex Police said: "He was conscious when he was found outside the Mangetout restaurant. It is not known how he came to have his injuries.

"He is believed to be aged in his 40s and was taken to a London hospital where his condition is described as serious.

"Officers are making enquiries. Anyone with any information as to what happened to the man is asked to contact officers at Southend CID on 101.

"People can also give information to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

"Tylers Avenue has been cordoned off whilst enquiries continue this morning".
