Roydon: CCTV Released In Search Of Missing Ed

CCTV footage has been released of a woman police want to speak to following the disappearance of a man in west Essex.

Edward Gillespie, who is from Luton, has been missing since he attended a Christmas Party at the Roydon Marina Hotel on Friday December 21st 2012.

The 38-year-old was last seen at the event and was reported missing by his family when he failed to return home later that day.

His car was later found at a hotel in Roydon where he was supposed to have been staying overnight.

Superintendent Luke Collison said: "Ed has now been missing for a month and the more time that has passed without any contact the more concerned we have become for his welfare.

"Despite an intensive search of the Marina and the surrounding area we still have no hard evidence to indicate what has happened to him and, in the absence of that, we continue to keep an open mind.

"So far we have spoken to more than 100 people who were at the marina on the night Ed disappeared but to date the woman in this CCTV has not been traced.

"It is believed she would have seen Ed as she walked through the marina in the early hours of Saturday.

"We hope she can provide us with some useful information as we continue our search and we would very much like for her to make contact with us."

Police are continuing to carry out searches at Roydon Marina and have carried out checks of boats, homes and other buildings at the site.

The search has included a wide variety of specialist officers; including the marine unit, police helicopter, search teams (Polsa) and police dogs.

The Essex Lowland Search and Rescue team has also completed an extensive search.

Mr Gillespie's glasses were found close to the marina, but there has been nothing further to indicate where he may be.

When he disappeared he was wearing blue jeans, a blue and grey, small chequered, long sleeved top and green trainers.

Anyone who believes they may have information about Mr Gillespie can contact Essex Police on 101.
