Soldier Families Await Judge's Decision

The family of an Essex soldier killed in Iraq's been told they'll have to wait to find out if a High Court Judge will allow them to seek compensation for the death of their son.

The parents of Lance Corporal Kirk Redpath, 22, of Romford, and three others say the MoD failed to give their children adequate equipment, which would have saved their lives.

MoD lawyers say decisions about battlefield equipment are for politicians and military commanders and have asked a judge to stop compensation claims going forward.

The judge is not expected to make a decision for at least a month.
