A 17 year old boy has been arrested after five teenagers were hurt in a suspected acid attack at Ockendon railway station.
The group, all between 16 and 18 years old, were waiting on the platform at around 12.40am on Sunday when they were approached.
A man squirted them in the face with an "unknown liquid" before getting on a train from Southend to Barking.
Two of the group of friends suffered "potentially life-changing" injuries to their eyes, face and mouth.
Three others had minor burns, that aren't thought to be life threatening.
A 17 year old boy from Dagenham handed himself into police and has now been arrested.
He is currently helping police with their enquiries.
