The seventh teenager to die in custody this year has been found hanging in his cell at Chelmsford prison.

18-year-old Tuan Ho was found in his cell on Monday night and taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

A Prison Service spokesman said: "Staff attempted CPR and paramedics attended but he was pronounced dead at outside hospital at 8.15pm.

"As with all deaths in custody the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will conduct an investigation.''

Campaigners now want an independent review of young offender institutions and secure establishments with the number of apparent suicides now reaching seven across the UK so far this year.
