Two men have been arrested over a break-in in Sible Hedingham where a man was shot in the leg as he hid in his bedroom.

It happened on Rectory Road in the early hours of Saturday, 6 February.

The victim was shot through his bedroom door as he hid from two intruders.

He suffered what has been described as "life-changing injuries".

Police say doctors face a battle to save his leg and he may have to have it amputated.

A 23 year-old man and a 27 year-old, who are both from Sible Hedingham, were arrested shortly after midnight today (Wednesday, 17 February) on suspicion of attempted murder and aggravated burglary.

They have been taken to police stations in Braintree and Chelmsford for interview where they currently remain in custody.
