Two Charged After Essex Drugs Raid

Two men have been charged with drug offences after police found cannabis and cocaine with an estimated street value of £1.3 million during a raid in west Essex.

Officers siezed 200 kilos of cannabis resin, 93 kilos of herbal cannabis and half a kilo of cocaine during searches at an address in Waltham Abbey and at premises in Broxbourne in Hertfordshire.

Both addresses were searched after two men in a van were stopped in Waltham Abbey on Friday.

Simon Newman, 46, of Tenpenny Hill, Thorrington, Colchester, and David Cooper, 27, of Hendon Close, Clacton, were both charged with possessing cocaine with intent to supply, possessing cannabis resin with intent to supply and possessing herbal cannabis with intent to supply.

They appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court and were remanded in custody.
