Detectives have now started a murder investigation after the body of a man was found in a property near Chelmsford train station.
Officers were called just after 8.30am this morning (September 30) to the property in Broomfield Road. A body was discovered inside with multiple injuries.
A 29 year-old man, who doesn't have a fixed address, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He is currently in custody being questioned by detectives.
The area behind The Ship pub has been cordoned off while forensic investigations are carried out.
DCI Martin Pasmore, who is leading the investigation, appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
He said: "I’m keen to speak to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area. The victim was found with stab injuries in a property on a busy road and I would urge anyone with information to contact me.”
