Woman Robbed At Knifepoint In Basildon

A woman has been threatened and robbed by two men armed with a knife in Basildon.

The 39 year-old was walking along Beech Road at 8pm on Friday (1 April) when two men approached her from behind.

Essex Police said: "She felt someone tug at her handbag and when she turned around, one of the men threatened her with a knife and demanded her bag.

"He took the bag and both men walked down Beech Road towards Greenstead.

"Police carried out a search of the area and found the bag and its contents further along Beech Road, however a three figure sum was missing from inside.

"Enquiries are ongoing to locate the suspects and police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

"The man with the knife was described as white, aged in his late 30s, of medium build and about 5ft 6ins tall.

"He wore a red jumper, blue jeans, black trainers and a blue baseball cap. He spoke in a local accent.

"The second man was white, aged in his mid 40s, of large build and about 5ft 10ins tall.

"He wore a dark jacket, dark beanie hat and a scarf covering the lower part of his face".
