Charity Award

Nicky Withycombe and Karen Robertson work tirelessly to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

This is what we were told about the work they do:

"Three years ago Nicky and her friend Karen set up Colchester Starlight Walk, this all came about because despite several attempts to get on the moon walk they never got a place.

Colchester Starlight Walk is a 13 mile walk around Colchester, all money raised goes to Cancer Research UK and this year’s money is going to sponsor local people to go on drug trials for breast cancer. They have also organised a Ball for the last two years which also raises money for breast cancer. 

Both Nicky and Karen are single parents so not only do they organise two great events they run the family home and Nicky is currently juggling three jobs as well. 

They have raised £25K over the last two years and hope to raise another £10K this year. Their energy is relentless trying to get sponsors and support and they deserve to win this award for their effort, as they are always putting others first."
