Devon criminal's assets seized

A South Hams man's had more than £250,000 of assets confiscated by police following a lengthy money laundering investigation.

Mark Harrington, had to sell his Salcombe smallholding to meet the order issued under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

The 47 year old from Malborough was jailed for three and a half years at Plymouth Crown Court in 2008 but it's taken police until the beginning of this year to seize the assets.

He claimed he was a fisherman but police had discovered cash and traces of controlled drugs at his home.

Between   June 2006 and August 2008 financial investigators and police, working with the Crown Prosecution Service, carried out a servies of complex enquiries  about Harrington's financial affairs and his lifestyle..which eventually led to his conviction.
