Darrell Rose jailed for murder

A man has been jailed for life for murdering his partner at her home in Exeter.

Darrell Rose, 36, killed Geraldine Mellor at her home on Alphington Road on 10th January 2018 and her body was found the next day.

The jury at Exeter Crown Court heard how Rose strangled the 32 year old in the early hours of the morning and were shown CCTV of himleaving the house just seconds after killing her. 

He will serve at least 15 years in prison. 

Deputy Senior Investigation Officer, Detective Sergeant Samantha Wenham said: “This has been a complex investigation into the tragic loss of the life of Geraldine Mellor. 

“Geraldine was a fun loving, free spirited young woman who was loved by her family and friends and is sorely missed.

“The investigation team have worked closely with our partner agencies through this complex and emotive enquiry.  

“Both the investigation and trial have presented numerous challenges and Devon and Cornwall police are satisfied with today’s outcome
