New Domestic Violence Plans in Devon

A new strategy's being drawn up to help thousands of victims of domestic abuse in Devon.

The plans will detail priorities and new ideas of how to tackle the problem in the county over the next year.

Rachel Martin from Devon's domestic abuse support service ADVA says it is about focusing on the fundamental issues, "I think this is saying boys and girls, men and women need to be treated equally and we need to to eradicate violence and what are some of the steps we can do to begin to achieve that?"

She also says it is about setting achievable aims, "there's a huge range of things we could do but i think we need to be realistic about what we can achieve. And finding new money to do new work is not the easiest thing to do"
