Sergeant Mike Warriner, from the Tiverton Neighbourhood Team said: “Officers have taken action to safeguard children from harm and even potential death.”
“Two teenagers, aged 14 and 15, have been hospitalised and two 16-year-olds have fallen ill after taking drugs, which we currently believe to be ecstasy.
“Following a search of a property a number of these tablets were located, along with a small quantity of cannabis.
“A 28-year-old man from Tiverton was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug. He has since been released under investigation pending further enquires
“We currently believe that these drugs are being sold locally, however they have the potential to be sold much further afield.
“These drugs are often filled with harmful substances, which in this case has been enough to hospitalise somebody. I want to implore to those that wish to take these drugs seriously consider the possible effects that they can have on you.
“I want to urge the public to continue to tell us this information to allow us to safeguard those in our communities.
“We also want to warn children and young people of the dangers surrounding taking drugs. Safeguarding young people is a priority and we ask parents and carers to speak to their children about the risks associated with taking drugs so that we can help prevent further serious harm to our children and communities across Devon and Cornwall.''
