5th Arrest In Connection With Stevenage Murder

Police in Stevenage say a fifth arrest has been made in connection with the murder of a man on Thursday, April 21.

Officers had been called at 4.20am to Angle Ways to reports a man was found lying in the street. The man, who was in his 40s, was taken to the Lister Hospital, but later died of a stab wound.

A 49 year-old local man was arrested last night on suspicion of conspiracy to rob and remains in police custody at this time.

Four others who had been arrested on suspicion of murder, also remain in police custody.

Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins from the Major Crime Unit said:

"We have now established the incident began at a property in Long Leaves and currently this area remains cordoned off.

We are continuing to appeal for any witnesses and information about what happened and would also like to reassure the local community that we believe this to be an isolated incident."

Those arrested on suspicion of murder are as follows:

* A 57 year-old man from Stevenage
* A 43 year-old woman from Stevenage
A 35 year-old man from Stevenage
* An 18 year old man from London
