Police have arrested a teenager over the serious assault of a Watford FC football fan in Wolverhampton at the weekend.
The 18-year-old was arrested from a house in Wolverhampton at around 4am on suspicion of wounding.
44-year-old Nick Cruwys from Hemel Hempstead was with a group of friends on Saturday 7 March and was assaulted on Littles Lane. He was taken to hospital with head injuries where his condition is described as critical but stable.
And now officers are appealing for more information as their enquiries continue.
Detective Inspector Toni Naylor, from Wolverhampton's Violent Crime Team, said: "We would like to thank the people of Wolverhampton and the wider footballing community from across the country who have already come to us with information. But I would urge anyone else who can help the investigation to contact us as soon as possible.
"Today's arrest is only the start of our investigation and I would also appeal to anyone who was involved in this incident to do the right thing and come forward."
Anyone with information is urged to call Wolverhampton's Violent Crime Team on 101. Alternatively people can leave information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
