The NHS in Bedford and Milton Keynes have announced their plans for the two towns' hospitals.
After Tuesday's news from Bedford Council about how they'd like the town's hospital to run in future, the NHS in Bedford and Milton Keynes have come up with their own plan to make Milton Keynes Hospital the major emergency care centre for the two towns.
It goes against Bedford Borough Council's plans and would make MK the main centre of excellence for various clinical skills.
Under the new NHS proposals, Bedford Hospital would lose most of it's emergency surgical care and operate as a supporting hospital for MK.
The plans will be discussed in public on the 14th of June (location details and times to be confirmed).
