Bedford Man Dies After M1 Crash

Police say a man from Bedford died in yesterday's crash on the M1 between Northampton and Milton Keynes.

The collision happened shortly after 10am, south of junction 15, on the southbound carriageway, when a white Renault Master van was in collision with the back of a Mercedes Actos lorry.

Police say the driver of the Renault, a 60 year-old man from Bedford, died at the scene.

Witnesses to the collision or anyone with information are asked to contact Northamptonshire Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101 or via the Drivewatch Hotline on 0800 174645.

The southbound motorway didn't fully re-open for nearly seven hours, at around 5.30pm.
