Five intrepid cyclists will be leaving Bedford today to face the daunting challenge of cycling 360 miles to Paris, to raise money in aid of the Bedford Daycare Hospice.
The five brave supporters are not hardened cyclists hence the challenge – it will be a real uphill climb for them.
To show his support, the Mayor of Bedford Borough Dave Hodgson will be seeing the riders off as they begin their cycle challenge by marking the occasion with a countdown and wishing them a safe successful fundraising journey.
Collectively they are aiming to raise £10,000 in aid of the Daycare Hospice.
Please visit www.justgiving.com/teams/BDCH-Cycling-Team for more information on their challenge and how to donate on-line.
Jos Daalhuizen – the organiser of the Bedford to Paris Cycle Challenge said "This mammoth bike ride is going to be an epic challenge for all of us but knowing that we are helping the Bedford Daycare Hospice makes it all worthwhile. We will be remembering that in the darker hours when we are aching and tired but that will keep us going."
Barbara Burnett Head of Fundraising at the Bedford Daycare Hospice said "The patients, staff and friends of the Bedford Daycare Hospice are so grateful for the huge effort these five cyclists are going to – the challenge they have set themselves is definitely not for the faint hearted. We will be thinking of them every mile they travel – and wish them success and safety all the way."
