A man's been left 'shaken' and 'shocked' after a violent robbery on the Embankment in Bedford.

A man in his 30s was walking by the river at twenty to eleven on Saturday night when he was approached from behind by two men on bicycles.

One of the men rode his bike into the back of the victim's leg, causing him to fall to the ground. The victim was then punched and kicked by both men before they stole his wallet and made off on their bikes towards Cardington Road.

The man was taken to hospital with head injuries and bruising.

The men are both described as white, in their 20s and around six foot tall. They were both wearing dark clothing and had scarves covering their faces.

Detective Constable Darren Armitage said: "This was a fierce attack that left the victim shaken and shocked by the brutality of such an unprovoked incident. We urge anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information to assist our investigation to come forward."
