Officers investigating a serious sexual assault in Northampton have released town centre CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to.

The alleged incident happened in the early hours of Saturday 4 April, between 4am and 5.45am.

It is believed the victim met up with two men and a woman at the top of Abington Street, near the junction with York Road and The Mounts, and then walked with them to Wellingborough Road, near Sainsbury's Local, when one of the men and the woman left.

Investigators are keen to speak to the two men and the woman, and are asking them to contact Northampton CID on 101.

CCTV footage has identified a man who was in the area at the time and officers would like to speak to him to see if he has any information about the incident.

The CCTV shows the man inside Millennium Pizza in Abington Square in Northampton.

Officers would also like to speak to a white man who may have seen the victim a short time later, following the assault, somewhere in the area around Wellingborough Road and Kettering Road, near the town centre and The Mounts.

Witnesses, or anyone who recognises the man in the pictures, should call Northamptonshire Police on 101, quoting incident 111 of 4 April
