A number of businesses in the Harpenden area have stayed shut today after flash-flooding last night across the region.
All along Harpenden High Street, Heart's seen businesses closed because staff are having to clean-up after last night's storms.
Perry's Florists, WHSmith and Costa are just three of a number of businesses affected.
One trader said the flood water came in because she didn't believe the local drains had been cleared recently.
We put that to Hertfordshire County Council. Their contractor, Ringway gave us a statement:
Kevin Carrol, Ringway Divisional Manager working on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council, said:
"We are investigating a number of flooding reports following the intense period of rain across Hertfordshire last night. Our emergency crews attended a number of incidents to help manage the flooding. We don't have specific information at this moment in time regarding the drain in question.
The drainage systems are not designed to cope with very intense period of rain and therefore the water can take a little while to clear."
