A Corby teacher has been sentenced to two years for making and distributing abusive images of children.
Mark Willimott, 41, has been sentenced at Northampton Crown Court to two years in prison.
Willimott, formerly the Vice Principal at Brooke Weston Academy in Corby, pleaded guilty to four counts of making and distributing indecent images of children and possessing extreme pornographic images, following an investigation by the force's POLIT (Paedophile On Line Investigation Team).
Detective Inspector Richard Tompkins led the investigation said:
"I am pleased by the sentence handed down by the court today. Mark Willimott was in a position of trust and today’s sentencing goes to prove that those who download and make abusive images of children will be fully investigated and brought to justice regardless of their profession.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the senior management team from Brooke Weston Academy who fully cooperated with us throughout the investigation. A key aspect of the enquiry was to minimise the risk of harm to children. I'd like to stress that our investigation found no evidence to suggest any of the images involved Brooke Weston Students."
