A 28 year-old Daventry man has been jailed for 14 years after being found guilty of sexually abusing a child.
Aaron Thornhill, of Roderick Way, Headlands, was sentenced today (Thurs Dec 8) at Northampton Crown Court for 10 sexual offences against a child, which happened over a 1 year period and began when the victim was just five.
He received 14 years for four offences of rape, two assaults by penetration and four assaults by touching.
Thornhill must serve half of his sentence before being considered for parole and a further year will be added to the parole period.
Thornhill was also given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Summing up, Recorder Mr Christopher Donnellan QC told Thornhill his offending had devastated families.
Detective Constable Irene Clifton, who led the investigation said:
"This has concluded a long and difficult period for the victim and their family, who now feel they can begin to rebuild their lives in the knowledge that justice has been done and Thornhill is behind bars"
