An elderly woman, who was the victim of a distraction burglary in Turvey last week (Thurs 30 April), has died.
Last week, at approximately 9.20pm, a man knocked on the door of a house in The Pyghtle and told the 96 year-old home-owner that he had damaged her fence. While the woman went outside to speak to the man, a second man entered her house.
when the woman went back inside, the man left, locking the woman inside on his way out. The two men then left the scene.
Detective Inspector Dani Fitzharris:
"Tragically the victim of this cruel crime passed away on Sunday (3 May). We are working hard to identify the two men responsible for this crime and I'm once again urgently appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or anyone who has information, to contact us immediately.
We will be carrying out a number of patrols in the area to provide reassurance to residents and deter others fromcarrying out similar offences."
Both men are described as white and aged around 16. One is described as thin and wearing a blue linen style hat and a navy t-shirt. The second is described as wearing dark clothing and a dark baseball cap.
