A man has died in a crash in Charlton this morning.
Emergency services were called at 7.05am to the incident involving a van and a truck.
The driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
His passenger was airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital where is reported to be in a serious condition.
The driver of the truck has been taken to Luton and Dunstable Hospital with serious injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.
PC Andy Ralph from the tri-force Forensic Collision Investigation Unit said: "We are investigating this collision and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the tragic incident to get in touch. Any information can help us piece together what happened.
"Our thoughts go out to the relatives of those involved and we are supporting the family of the deceased at this difficult time."
Call PC Ralph using the non-emergency number 101 with information.
Luton Road and Sundon Park Road at the junction with Sundon Road are closed while investigations take place. Motorists are advised to take alternative routes.
