The county council says it urgently needs more to come forward.

Hertfordshire County Council says it urgently needs more foster families to stop children being placed outside the county.

It's because of a shortage of people coming forward to offer foster placements.

Currently, there are approximately 900 children looked after by Hertfordshire County Council, 70 per cent of whom, at any one time, are in foster care. The majority of these children are over 10 years old. Some children in foster care are placed away from Hertfordshire as local foster carers cannot be found.

The Council have released a powerful film highlighting the urgent need for more foster carers.

The film follows the plight of a 12-year-old girl whose mum is unable to care for her, and she is left feeling neglected, scared and needing help. It also follows the interest shown by a couple who have the time, space and desire to welcome someone else in their lives.
