Letchworth: Murder Investigation Underway

Hertfordshire Detectives have launched a murder investigation following an incident in Letchworth Garden City yesterday afternoon (Weds, 4th January.

Police were called at 2.26pm to reports of a domestic incident at an address in Whitethorn Lane. On arrival an elderly man (80s) and a 60 year-old man were discovered inside the property with serious injuries.

Sadly the elderly man, who was in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 60 year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment but is expected to make a full recovery and remains in hospital at this time.

No one else was injured during the incident.

A 60 year-old man from Letchworth Garden City has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident.

Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins from the Major Crime Unit, said:

"This is an isolated incident in which a man has sadly lost his life. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this tragedy and investigations remain on-going.

Specially-trained officers are supporting the victim's family and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time."
