There are more clinically severely obese children in Luton than anywhere else in Herts, Beds, Bucks and Northants.

Apart from Thurrock in Essex (5.3%) the proportion of severly obese children in Luton is also the highest in the East of England.

Across England, the national average is 4.2% of Year 6 pupils (10 and 11 year-olds) fell into that category last year.

Childhood obesity rates in the most deprived areas are more than double that of those in the most well off areas.
