A lollipop man in Luton has been sacked after he stopped a fire engine that was on its way to a 999 call.
Firefighters were forced to physically remove the man as he repeatedly helped children cross outside William Austin Junior School on April 13th.
The fire engine had been on its way to a fire in St Ethelbert Avenue when it happened at around 3:30pm.
Luton Borough Council initially suspended the man pending an investigation, but it has now confirmed the school crossing patrol officer has been dismissed for gross misconduct.
