A van driver has attacked a man and his mother as they left a doctor's surgery in Ampthill.
They were in Oliver Street, heading towards Arthur Street, at approximately 5pm last Thursday when they were approached by a well built white man in his 20s, who punched and kicked them. He drove off in a white van.
Local residents went to the aid of the man and his mother. One said: "I heard a woman shouting and ran out. They were both lying in the road. The man, who was in his 20s, said he had been knocked out and he was very concerned about his mother."
Detective Constable Claire Case said: "The offender assaulted both the man and the woman, kicking and punching them and leaving them with injuries requiring hospital treatment.
"We're keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the altercation as soon as possible."
The attacker is described as white, in his 20s, well built, and approximately 6 feet tall. He was believed to be driving a white van and wearing high-visibility clothing.
