Detectives in Luton are appealing for information after a 25 year old man was assaulted on Tuesday, Jan 4 in the town.

The man was close to the main entrance of the Galaxy Centre after visiting the cinema when he was assaulted and left with serious head injuries at approximately 3.30pm.

The man made his way to work before reporting the incident to the police and began to feel unwell. He was taken to the Luton and Dunstable Hospital and transferred to the Royal Free Hospital suffering from a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain.

Detective Constable Tom Hamm, investigating, is keen to trace anyone who saw the assault.

He said: “We believe that some sort of altercation happened outside the Galaxy Centre which would have been witnessed by many people as this area is very busy at this time of the day. Officers need to trace anyone who has information about this assault and we are using CCTV to try to identify anyone who was in the area, particularly a group of young people who were close to the victim when the assault took place.  I would reassure these people that they are not in any trouble but we need them to come forward and speak to officers to assist with this investigation.”

Anyone with information can contact DC Tom Hamm, at Luton Police Station, in confidence, on 01582 394140, or text information to 07786 200011, or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
