Milton Keynes Council is changing the parking tariffs in CMK from today (18th May 2015).
The consultation at the beginning of the year gave the public the chance to tell the council what they think about parking in the city centre and how they believe it can be improved. The council listened to these comments and suggestions and looked into whether they can be implemented.
The changes that will come into effect from and including Monday 18 May 2015 are:
In addition to the above, the Council is also committed to creating up to 2,000 additional employee parking spaces with a 1,000 of these being marked for implementation within the current financial year.
Cllr Matt Clifton, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Parking said:
"The public spoke to us loud and clear about what they wanted to see implemented in CMK for parking and I'm pleased to say that we have been able to accommodate much of this.
The issue with parking in CMK is simply one of supply and demand. In the long term, more and more parking spaces are not the answer and we encourage people to choose sustainable transport to travel into the city centre and utilise our public transport and Redways more."
