A Bedfordshire police inspector has been fined £500 after a jury found him guilty of assaulting a woman.
Paul Kelly was convicted of the offence of assaulting the woman occasioning her actual bodily harm back in December of last year, but the fact can only now be reported.
However, Mr Kelly from Denton in Northants who was based at Bedford remains suspended by Bedfordshire Police.
It was at St Albans crown court in December that Mr Kelly was convicted by a jury of assaulting a woman occasioning her actual bodily harm.
The charge related to an incident in London in November 1998 when the woman suffered an eye injury.
