Shots fired at front door

It's thought a gun's been used to fire two shots at a family's front door in Luton.

It happened in Southampton Gardens between 9.45pm and 9.50pm on Saturday, January 8th.

At first the people inside thought the loud bangs were being caused by fireworks, but they later discovered a large hole in their door.

Police and Scenes of Crime Officers who visited the property think the damage has been caused by a gun.

Detectives have been carrying out house to house enquiries and are asking anyone who has information or who saw the incident to get in touch.

Detective Inspector Martin Peters said:

“Luckily no one was injured during this incident and while the actual threat caused by gun crime is very small and does not affect the vast majority of law abiding people within Bedfordshire, we are not complacent about the dangers posed by these weapons and would therefore urge anyone who has information about this crime or those people who carry or have access to illegal weapons to have the courage to come forward and speak to the police.

“With the help of the public we can rid our county of the weapons and reduce the small number of people affected by gun crime still further.”
