Murder detectives in Northampton say the man shot dead in the Upton neighbourhood last night was a 28 year-old man.
Residents reporting hearing gunshots and when the emergency services arrived they found the victim in the road near the Upton corner-shop at around 9pm.
The victim, a 28 year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chief Superintendent Chris Hillery told Heart the victim is believed to be from Northamptonshire, but not local to the Upton area.
The suspects are also not believed to be from the locality.
This afternoon, Friday 5th October, the area around Webb Drive remains cordoned off with a heavy police presence and single white police forensics tent on the road which runs next to a children's play park.
CS Chris Hillery said there were detectives from the wider East Midlands now working on the case adding information from the public is vital and
