Violence Overnight in Welwyn Garden City

Two teenagers have been injured after a mass brawl in Welwyn Garden City overnight.

Police were called to Howardsgate at just before 1.20am today (Saturday, Oct 14) with reports of a large number of people were involved in a "physical altercation" outside the Howard Centre, near to the taxi rank and CEX.

During the incident, two teenage boys suffered injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

The first suffered a slash wound to the face and the second suffered a puncture wound to his back.

Detective Sergeant Malcolm Dey, from the Welwyn Hatfield Local Crime Unit, said:

"We believe there were a large number of people in the area at the time of the incident that may have witnessed what happened. If you have not yet spoken to police and believe you may have information that could assist our investigation, please call 101 quoting ISR 44 of October 14."

A police cordon remains in place on Howardsgate.
