Some people in Biddenham, Queens Park and Kempston are waking up with no water or reduced pressure this morning after a burst water main.
Anglian Water say it should be fixed by 2pm.
"We are very sorry that some customers in Bedford (Biddenham, Queen's Park, Kempston, Bromham) are without water this morning. This is because of a burst to an 18-inch water main on Bromham Road.
"Unfortunately this has caused flooding to three properties nearby and we know local schools have also had to close, and we are truly sorry for the impact this has had.
"We have a team of engineers on site who are working hard to reroute water through the network of pipes to return things to normal as soon as possible.
"Our loss adjustors will also be speaking to those customers who suffered flooding and we will pick up the tab for any work required.
"We apologise for the disruption to customers' morning routines and we will be providing updates via our website until things are fully back to normal.
When the water is back it may look a little cloudy or discoloured, just run your tap for a couple of minutes and it should clear - if it doesn't give us a call so that we can check it out - 03457 145 145"
