The star scooped the Mass Appeal award and took to the stage to perform two of his greatest hits.

Sam Smith gave a perfect performance of Too Good At Goodbyes and Stay With Me:

Sam had expressed earlier on the blue carpet that he was incredibly happy to be back performing live, having spent a year and a half out of the limelight.

He won the first ever Global Award for Mass Appeal and beamed as he took to the stage to collect his momento - his first award for his latest album The Thrill Of It All.

The Global Awards comes live from the Hammersmith Apollo, with performances from the likes of Rita Ora, Liam Payne and Andrea Bocelli.
