Cannabis factory closed down

Two people have been arrested following the discovery of a suspected cannabis factory in Gloucester City Centre.

Police raided a house in Wellington Street at around 3pm on Wednesday and discovered more than 200 plants at various stages of growth.

A man aged 44 and a woman aged 46, both from the city, have been arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis and released on police bail until January 11 2011.

Inspector Mike Wilkinson, who oversees policing in the city centre, said:

"We will not tolerate the sale or production of drugs in Gloucester. Anyone who has suspicions that such activity is taking place in their neighbourhood should contact us so that appropriate action can be taken."
