A Gloucestershire couple have pleaded guilty to charges of child cruelty in Bristol Crown Court today.

Bonny Richards, 28, and John Davies, 32, from Broadwell near Coleford, admitted two counts of cruelty towards Holly Agius, who died at the age of 14 months last year.

The court heard they had fed the Holly methadone.

They will now be sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on July 12.

Police commenced their investigation after Holly died in hospital in January 2009.

Detective Sergeant Dave Shore-Nye, officer-in-charge of the case, said:

“We welcome today’s outcome and would like to thank all those who helped us with our enquiries, including all our partner agencies, during what was a very difficult investigation after Holly's tragic death.

“The CPS has accepted the pleas of Richards and Davies as reflective of their actions and both will now have to live with what they did for the rest of their lives.”
