Gloucestershire soldier killed

Tributes are being payed to a Gloucestershire soldier whose been killed in Afghanistan.

Lance Bombardier Mark Chandler, of 3rd Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, died in Helmand during a gun battle with insurgents.

The 32 year old was from Nailsworth.

Lance Bombardier Chandler joined the Army in 2004 and had also served in Iraq.

Lance Bombardier Chandler had been deployed to Afghanistan in March and was supporting Anzio Company, 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment in Nad-e Ali.

The MoD say  Anzio Company had been operating from Patrol Base Khaamar, conducting security and reassurance patrols to the local nationals with both the Afghan National Police and Afghan National Army, when it happened.
