Mum jailed for faking rape

A Gloucestershire mum, convicted of faking rape scenes, has been sent to jail for 2 years.

52 year old Gail Sherwood, from Thrupp, was found guilty of perverting the course of justice after telling police she was raped on two occasions and that she was being stalked.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Shorrock, from Gloucestershire Police, told Heart it was an unusual case to investigate:

During one of the incidents officers found her semi-naked with gaffer tape over her mouth and her hands tied up.

On another occasion she blamed an innocent man of being her stalker after they were involved in a minor car crash.
