Police stations face the axe

A number of police stations across Gloucestershire could be sold off to help the force save £18 million pounds.

Gloucestershire Constabulary say they want to invest in people rather than buildings and keep as many officers on the front line as possible.

Plans could see 'Police Points' set up in libraries in Fairford, Moreton, Newent, Tetbury, Winchcombe, Bishops Cleeve, Lydney, Nailsworth and Stonehouse. 

While police hubs could be set up for officers to work from that would affect Berkeley, Brockworth, Bussage and Tutshill.

While in Wotton-Under-Edge, Bourton-on-the-Water, Churchdown and Whaddon officers could share buildings with partner agencies.

A number of meetings will be held over the coming months to give us the chance to have our say on the plans and give any ideas for other ways to make savings.
