School to finish early on Fridays
The weekend is set to start early for pupils at one Gloucestershire school.
Tewkesbury school has revealed plans to start sending pupils home at 2.30pm on a Friday, instead of 3.25pm.
This will happen from September this year and parents have already been informed in a newsletter.
It is all part of a cost-cutting scheme at the school, who say they need to save around £200,000 over the next year and the alternative was cutting the number of subjects offered to pupils.
Governors may also decide to not replace teachers who leave and could even bring in compulsory redundancies.
The school is thought to be one of the first comprehensives in the country to make this move, they insist it won't affect the provision of core lessons.
