Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a report of dangerous driving in Watford last month.
The incident occurred at around 12.30pm on Tuesday, 13th May in Bruce Grove.
A Hertfordshire Police officer claims when they tried to stop a ‘08’ plate black Ford Focus ST in the road, the driver acknowledged the officer before reversing the vehicle towards them.
It is then reported the driver drove at speed over a public footpath and onto St Albans Road whilst nearly colliding with around 10-15 pedestrians.
The driver's described as a white man and around 5ft 8-10ins tall. He was wearing a white t-shirt and dark trousers.
PC Carlie Thomas is investigating the incident and said: "This is reported to have happened during the middle of the day when there were quite a large number of people around. I would like to hear from anyone who was present at the time of the incident or saw the vehicle prior to or after this."
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Thomas via Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101 with reference C4/14/1045.
