Lost Dogs Posted On Facebook

Any lost or stray dogs in South West Hertfordshire are going to be put on Facebook so they can be reunited with their owners quicker.

The Three Rivers District Council animals protection team are turning to social networking sites after many of the 100 dogs reported missing each year end up in animal shelters.

Ryan Watson is a spokesperson for the council and has been telling Heart:

“We get lots of enquiries from residents who have lost their dogs asking if we have collected them. So it’s just a different channel and a different way of connecting with residents.

The social networking sites are already live but lost dogs will be posted on them from the end of this week and Ryan explains how it’ll work:

“It’ll start with a status update initially as that will be the quickest and easiest form and once we get going on it we will add pictures of the dog. So it’ll be like ‘a golden Labrador has been found at a location’ and then owners can see if they have lost their dog they can log on to the relevant Facebook page area.”

All postings on Facebook will also appear on Twitter at www.twitter.com/threeriversdc
