A man has been left with a fractured jaw and cheek bone after a case of road rage on the M1.

At approximately 11.50am on Saturday, April 25, a man in his 30s was driving a silver Matiz joining the M1 at Junction 8 Hemel Hempstead when he was involved in a collision with another man who was driving what is believed to be either a silver old style Vauxhall Astra or Corsa.

Both parties stopped their vehicles on the hard shoulder where there was an argument. The man in his 30s was then assaulted by the other driver. He sustained a fractured jaw and cheek bone. The other driver then drove away.

Detective Constable Jane Swift is investigating the incident and said: "This is an unusual incident to have happened and has unfortunately left a man with a nasty injury. I would like to identify the other driver involved as a matter of urgency and would ask anyone who witnessed the incident, or the events prior to it, to contact me as soon as possible."
