Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault outside the Royal Oak Pub, on Kitters Green, Abbots Langley on Friday, April 15.
The incident took place at approximately 11.45pm when the victim, a 21-year-old man from Hemel Hempstead, became involved in a dispute with another man. While both men were involved in the dispute, another man approached the victim, punched his jaw and ran off in an unknown direction. The victim did not see the man who punched him.
An ambulance was called to the scene and the victim was taken to hospital having sustained facial injuries. He was released from hospital following treatment yesterday (April 18).
Investigating officer, DC Paul Rowley said: “I am appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity at the time and saw the incident to get in touch. Did you see who struck the victim or were you the man taking to him before he was punched? Perhaps you saw a man running from the scene?
“Any amount of information you provide, no matter how small, could help us find the person responsible for this assault.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Rowley via the non-emergency number 0845 3300 222 citing crime reference number C2/11/933. Alternatively call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555111. You do not have to give your name and you could be entitled to a cash reward.
An 18-year-old man from Abbots Langley has been arrested in connection with this incident on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He has been released on bail and is due to return to Hemel Hempstead police station in May.
